The aim of the competition was to improve the functionality of the main building of the National Museum in Kraków and adapt it to new exhibition needs. The competition required the creation of a restaurant with an observation deck on the roof. The project assumed the reconstruction of the existing building while preserving its existing structure and construction, with simultaneous enlargement of the exhibition halls. The idea referred to the original pre-war project of the museum, which featured a centrally located staircase. The concept was to build the building in a way that would maximally preserve the scale and form of the historic building.
